In a barren landscape of a volcanic desert, one may have the impression that any human presence is a trespass. Rocky steps, severe weather conditions and a wide horizon - these are the components of the landscape around the Hverfjall volcano.
Being there, we can listen to the blowing wind, imagining the events from thousands of years ago, when the volcano erruption happened. Since that time, the scenery was formed by the natural eroding, remaining the witness to the formation of the natural heritage.
When we consider interfering in the natural landscape, we should focus not only on the site immediately near the Hverfjall foundation. It is necessary to provide an opportunity to connect further focal points already existing in the nearest neighbourhood, such as other volcanoes, caves and lakes. The answer to this statement is a proposal of an educational path for hikers around the Myvatn Lake, to offer a holistic natural experience.
